This year at the World of Concrete, we got the first look at the REAXX table saw at the Bosch media event. At a first glance of this table saw we were not sure what exactly to expect but once it was shown in action, we were pretty impressed.
The table saw is designed around safety introducing the first of its kind active responsive technology. With this technology, it is designed to detect human flesh that comes in contact with the blade and immediately drops the blade below the tabletop. At this point, you’d think the saw blade can’t be reused, or will take a hell of a time to reset right? We thought that too, however, it only takes sixty (60) seconds. Everyone had to see it to believe it, and Bosch made sure to show the feature in action as well. The safety feature can be activated up to 25 times, at which point the blue service light will come on, disabling the saw & tells you that it’s time to take it to a shop to be serviced.
The cartridge system technology is like an airbag, once it is activated you will hear a LOUD popping noise which means it just saved your flesh. With the single two shot cartridge that enables activation for two incidents before a replacement is needed, just flip it around and you are pretty much ready to go.
So, after you calm back down from that close call, and have gotten off the phone with your mother… its time to get back to work, and resetting it isn’t going to take you but a minute, literally.
There are also indication lights that allow the user to understand if there is an issue with the machine. (Light indicators such as “Green- ready to go” “yellow- bypass mode” “red- issue with saw and needs correction” and “blue -service required“) Bosch created an app to go along with the saw too. The app acts as a control system, and owners manual. The app will also allow you to lock the saw as needed, which ensure that workers cannot bypass the safety system.
The REAXX GTS1041A-09 Portable saw is not yet available on the market, however, once it is in the fall of 2015, the price is listed as $1,499.00. The 78lb. saw comes with an owners manual, wrenches, the cartridge and extra space in case you plan on getting a few extra cartridges.
